FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do you post?
My goal is to post five times a week, between Monday and Friday. I do this by following a meme format that keeps me motivated to post. Weekend posts may vary and rarely have a theme. When I do post on the weekend, they will always be tagged Weekend Madness. Anything posted on the weekend is considered "extra."

How can I keep track of what you post every week?
Use the tags, which will always include the day of the week. For example, Monday's features will be "Mommy Mondays" (my chance to talk about books for kids and teaching my stubborn seven-year-old how to read), and Tuesdays will be "Tattletale Tuesdays" (a chance to talk about what book I'm currently reading and "tattle" a little bit about the characters in the book). Each weekday will have its own fun theme to keep me writing and to (hopefully) keep you reading. Fridays will be special as they will be a chance to cover the writings of the past week in a "Friday Followup."

When do you post book reviews?
Whenever I finish reading a book, I try to review that book within 48 hours of completing it. I'll often give myself 24 hours to process what I read before jumping right in with a review, however.

What does a book review include?
I actually write four different book reviews for each book that I complete. Here on my blog, a "review" is more of a discussion of the book, its merits, and the reasons that I think you should or should not read it. I'll always tell you whether or not I recommend the book to my readers (sometimes I will recommend it and sometimes I won't) and give a star rating. I'm pretty harsh with the ratings, and a 4-star is almost as good as you can hope for, coming from me. If you see a five-star, that's a must-read book!

Reviews on Amazon and Shelfari will include my brief thoughts on the book. This will be just enough to tell potential readers if it is likely to be their cup of tea, and I will always, in these reviews, point out if there are formatting issues or anything related to grammar or editing that should be addressed.

Book posts on Tumblr will be quick and simple: A graphic of the book's cover, links to Shelfari, Goodreads, and Amazon, a star-rating and a recommendation. That's it. If you like especially short book reviews, that's the place to follow.

If you're not looking for discussion but do like lengthier reviews, my reviews on Hubpages will give you details about the book, including a summary and my thoughts on book, information about style (including style errors) in the book, a chance to vote your rating into the book, and information for parents about whether or not the book is acceptable for their child. I may not always post the Hubpages reviews, as they are time consuming and often too detailed for my sanity.

I may also give a more detailed review on Goodreads, as those are popular there.

Will you review my book?
If it's available for Kindle or in print, then I will review your book if you contact me with a summary and request first and if you will send me a book to review. Please don't e-mail me to ask me to purchase your book. That's truly bad form and I won't have anything to do with authors who spam me.

Authors wishing to have a book reviewed may send their request for an honest review to my e-mail address.
